Sightings around Vogue Knitting Live

I have found knitting classes to be very stressful maybe I am slow or competitive not sure, but I have learned to take limited classes. I attended “Seams Like Surgery” and even though that was difficult learned a lot and now feel better about putting my finished items together. The Fashion Shows were a highlight there was one an hour by different yarn manufacturers. It is not often that I see a good fashion show. Loads of great ideas for creating knit projects. There were also free demos outside the Market Place. I also volunteered for the event so I kept pretty busy.

Walking Tour To Coit Tower San Francisco, CA

Murals From 1934 By Bay Area Artists

From my last post I mentioned that I was going to try and visit Coit Tower over the weekend. I managed to make it and here are the pictures. A friend and I climbed the stairs from Greenwich St. by Levi’s Plaza. Walked around the Coit Tower grounds, sauntered in the building oohed and ahwwed over the murals. We took the elevator to the top and absorbed the view. The view from the top is worth the $7.00 elevator fee. I had read the windows were plexiglass and the view was not good but they must have replaced them with glass and it was delightful. The glass was very clean. We climbed down from the tower on the opposite side that we came up and then took the Filbert St. steps back to Levi’s Plaza. (I worked for Levi’s for many years it was fun being on the grounds. It is a wonderful office park.)

Side note – I like to travel with my dog and debated bringing him with us and was glad I did not. First he does not like stairs with big slats and the beginning of the climb up the stairs is along a hillside with big gaps. Second, at Coit Tower dogs are allowed on the grounds but not inside the tower. Not a real dog friendly adventure. If you do take your dog use the Filbert St. steps they are not quite as steep.

A Tour Of San Francisco’s Public Art

Today is the beginning of the long Labor Day weekend. For those unable to attend Burning Man, which is known as the art festival for the senses, we do have  alternatives in the Bay Area. A tour of San Francisco’s public art is not only free but will get you outside.

In this article from SFGate there are 23 art alternatives for you to visit, Burning Man alternative: A tour of S.F.’s public art. How many have you already seen? I was thinking about visiting Coit Tower to see the Mural’s and take in the  fantastic view.

Foggy California Coast Muir Beach to the Zen Center

Sunday morning it was foggy as it has been the past month. I needed to spend the morning walking on the beach with Ollie and it didn’t matter if it was overcast. Off we went to Muir Beach, there was really no temperature difference when we got there and it was not windy. I can handle foggy it is windy that drives me crazy. We walked on the deserted beach with few others and then took the trail to the Zen Center. Click through the images below you will see how foggy it was but the beauty still shines through -> Muir Beach and Green Gulch Zen Center.
